Leftover dessert doubles as guest favors when packaged in boxes that are as pretty as, well, pie. Photocopy template at 400 percent; trace onto card stock. Cut out the image with scallop scissors along scalloped edges and regular scissors on solid lines. With a straightedge and a bone folder, score paper along dotted lines. Fold along scored lines, and secure tabs with double-sided tape. Line box with parchment paper, place a slice inside, and tie on a tag.

Using Vintage Stamps

Many couples like the idea of choosing and using vintage stamps for their wedding invitations. It can be a fun way to personalize your invitations, which are, afterall, the first impression that your guests will have of your wedding! But before you take the plunge, here are a few tips to consider.
1. Many vintage stamps are sold above face value, but you can also find vintage stamps at their face value. It is important that you decide if you want to purchase only face value stamps or if you are willing to spend a little extra to get the "perfect" stamps.
2. You definitely want to start searching for your stamps in advance. Often your wedding planner can help you with this, but if you are on your own, it could take a while to accumulate enough stamps - remember a lot of vintage stamps are smaller values and wedding invitations generally run from $0.61 to over $1 each to mail! That's a lot of stamps!

3. Ebay is a good source for vintage stamps. You can simply search for "vintage stamps," but be sure that you only purchase "unused" stamps. Collectors will sometimes sell and/or buy used or cancelled stamps because they may still have some value even though they are no longer in mint condition. You can also check your local coin shops because they often stock vintage stamps as well.
4. Make sure you designate some time to separate the stamps into sets of your necessary postage. As always, you should take one completed invitation to the post office and have it weighed to ensure that your invitations aren't returned to you. If your envelopes require $1.05 each (the current rate for oversized envelopes with invitations held together by ribbon, adding a slight bulge), you will need to come up with stamps equaling approximately that amount. This is of course easier with less invitations and would be quite time consuming with over 100 invitations.

5. Also allocate a good amount of time to adhere your stamps on the invitations. A lot of your vintage stamps will not be self adhesive - a modern luxury that we often overlook! You will need to be prepared to either lick many, many stamps...or you can use a glue stick to adhere your stamps. All stamps featured on this post are available from Verde Studio on etsy. 9 Things Your Bridesmaids Want You to Know

They have been there for you and as you are planning your wedding you will likely need their help more than ever. Here's how to stay in tune with your best girlfriends and keep them happy...and you sane. The last thing any bride wants is drama with or among her best girls! ...These 9 things are from the knot and I have added ATB Tips to some for further explanantion and opinion of course ;-) ...

1. They Want You to Tell Them Your Expectations
What do you expect from your bridesmaids? Will simple moral support suffice, or do you expect them to be there with you throughout all the decision-making and to-dos, like addressing wedding invitations and tying tiny ribbons around your wedding favors? Either way, let your bridesmaids know what you expect of them so that you don't end up frustrated with a friend who doesn't understand (or didn't know) what you wanted them to do in the first place. ATB TIP: Just be courteous in HOW you are asking. I have heard horror stories of how these conversations have gone down, leaving bridesmaids with their jaws on the floor!

2. They Want You to Tell Everyone
The only thing worse than a coworker who thinks she's invited to your wedding is a friend who assumes she's going to be a bridesmaid. Let it be known whom you've chosen so neither you nor your bridesmaids feel awkward about it around nonbridal party members. If you're afraid of hurting someone's feelings, remember that, as cliche as it sounds, any true friend will understand whatever decision you ultimately make.
ATB TIP: Anyone who doesn't "make the cut" for the bridal party can have a special part in readings, helping with passing out programs, or another aspect of the ceremony. Maybe you have a friend you can sing or is good at the more crafty items you need help with. Friends like helping friends and it can create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

3. They Want You to Have Your Dream Wedding

Try not to make hasty assumptions. Don't write off some friends simply because you think they don't have enough money to afford that Priscilla of Boston bridesmaid dress you have your eye on. While it is important to recognize your bridesmaids' financial situations, they want you to be happy on your wedding day (just like you would of them), so don't be shy about opening up the conversation and letting them know what would make you happiest. ATB TIP: I think the key here is open conversation, and if they are your BFF's it should not be that difficult. Remember what happens when you A S S U M E. Being senitive to people and their situations can't dictate all your decisions, but be courteous adn focusing on what's important here is what is right. Would you rather have a high-fashion dress over a best friend who will never wear that dress again

4. They Want You to Respect Their Responsibilities

As you're allocating responsibilities, be mindful of their personal lives -- your friend who's trying to make partner at her law firm or who's dealing with a new baby may not have time to assist you with every little task. At the same time, you don't want to cause discord within the wedding party if some maids feel the others aren't pulling their weight. Try to keep a good balance, and remember, there are others who can help out: You've got your parents, other family members, and your fiance. Plenty of people are willing to pitch in, so take advantage of it as you need to. ATB TIP: I have to add that they also want you to respect their financial situations. This is true when BMs are amongst themselves and deciding on showers and bach parties, etc.

5. They Want You to Dress Them Well
If you know one of them would be uncomfortable in the dresses you envision, come up with a compromise. Not sure one dress will work for all your girls? Come up with guidelines (say, a color and length you like) and then let them choose the exact style. Trust us, even with different necklines or sashes, they'll still look fantastic. Remember, you want each and every one of your maids to feel beautiful (and comfortable!), so your efforts in the dress department are well worth it. ATB TIP: YES! THis is 100% true!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. They Want You to Put Yourself in Their Shoes
Yes, part of the bridal party's job is to be your go-to gals when you need something done. But no, that doesn't mean you should be cracking the whip nonstop. Whenever you're asking one of your maids to do something -- whether it's attending your gown fitting or tying 100 miniature bows around 100 favor boxes -- stop and think: Would I do this for her? It's a good reality check to keep your requests reasonable

7. They Want You to Keep Them in the Black

They have to shell out for quite a bit over the course of the wedding: dresses, hair, shower and wedding gifts, the bachelorette party, and travel expenses. These add up and can put a pinch on even the most financially flush of maids. Take this into consideration and offer help when you can. For example, you can let them know that they shouldn't feel pressured to give you an extravagant shower gift, or if you're having more than one shower, tell them that you don't expect multiple shower gifts. You can also help them track down inexpensive flights or hotel rooms.

8. They Want You to Make Their To-Do List Manageable
Try to come up with a game plan beforehand of who you need to do what on the wedding day. Then make a second mental list of who else can and has offered to help -- aunts, cousins, ushers, and so on. When little things do come up (which they will), you'll be able to rely on that latter team to help you take care of details as needed rather than overextending your bridesmaids. ATB TIP: Hire a day-of coordinator ;-)

9. They Want You to Stay Their Friend

Obvious, right? Sometimes when you're caught up in wedding-related drama, it can be hard to remember that there's a world outside your wedding. When you meet up with one of your girls, make a point to talk about things that are not related to the wedding. Whether it's the project she's working on at work or the blind date she went on last weekend, she'll appreciate the opportunity to tell you all about it, the same way she always has. Similarly, when you're really upset -- whether about the wedding or anything else -- you'll know she'll be there for you, right now and long after the wedding is over.

Let a flock of colorful paper butterflies loose, and you'll instantly give party decorations a lift. Trace the template onto a folded piece of paper, cut out the shape, and unfold the wings. (For different sizes, photocopy the template, reducing or enlarging the image.) Attach some to paper lanterns with tape or glue dots (sold by the roll at crafts stores), then fold the wings upward for true-to-life flutter form. For topflight cocktails, make 2 slits in the center of a butterfly cutout, and then slide a straw through.

By the time you are ready to mail out your invitations, you have most likely already spent many months (closer to a year for some) planning this special day. And if you have chosen to have your envelopes hand-calligraphed, you are definitely making a statement about the the value you have placed on your invitations and your guests receiving them. It's a great first impression for your upcoming wedding!

So now that it is time for you to send these beautiful invitations, here are a few tips to make sure they make it to their recipients quickly and in nearly the same condition as when they left your fingertips:

1. Be sure that you weigh one fully assembled invitation to determine the proper postage. With the rules at the post office constantly changing, you don't want to get stuck with all of your beautiful envelopes returned to you with "postage due" stamped in red across the front!

2. It is also a good idea to send one or two "tester" invitations. These can go to people such as your parents, sibling, maid of honor, or even to yourself (although many couples like to keep their own invitation un-mailed as a keepsake). Blushing Brides

For a glow that stays incandescent all day, try layering your blush. If you've already applied liquid or cream foundation, start with a cream blush, dusting it with translucent powder, then brush on a powder blush. Thanks to brides.com for the idea...now here's my suggestion from living with aesthetician....don't depend on make-up for your big day look....take care of your skin on-going and your makeup application will go on smoother and your healthy glow will shine through. Do these simple steps:

1. Cleanse and exfoliate (the amount of times you exfoliate your skin per week will depend on your skin type and type of products you are using. Seek some guidance from a licensed aesthetician or dermatologist.)

2. Moisturize....daily - both morning and evening. Suggestion - use oil free even if you don't have oily skin. Most skin needs moisture not oil. Also, part of keeping your skin hydrated is drinking plenty of water and try to limit the caffeine (that's a tough one for me!)

3. Protect. Use SPF 30 to SPF 45 daily - all year round. I am not going to say don't tan, but do it without burning. When your skin color gets darker, it's damage any way you cut the cake; but I know brides like to have "color" on their wedding day. After working in a medical spa I have seen women in their 40's trying to erase the damage the sun has done to their skin - and pay a ton for it! The sun ages you plus increases your risk of skin cancer, so tan smartly!

Extra Info:
1. Facials - they are a ton of different kinds. If you can indulge in one once a month leading up to your wedding.
2. Avoid any treatments/facials, waxing too close to your wedding day. A week - 3 days the closest....this will ensure you are not too red.
3. A massage a few days before for relaxation!
4. Exercise- you may already have a regime, but if not; at least walk daily for 30 mins. Getting your heart pumping will increase oxygen and blood flow, making your skin glow!
5. Your groom can apply these same principles- he'll have great skin too!

Invitation Suites Defined

We often talk about "invitation suites." Many brides, though, are new to the world of stationery, so we thought it might be beneficial to explain what exactly makes an invitation "suite."

The first piece is of course the invitation itself, which includes of course the date, location and time of the wedding ceremony amongst other things.

The invitation suite also includes the outer envelope, RSVP card and RSVP envelope. If you are offering menu options to your guests be sure to include this selection on the RSVP card and of course the RSVP date!

These four pieces, invitation, outer envelope, RSVP card and RSVP envelope, make up the basic invitation suite. Today it is also common to include additional pieces such as a map and directions card and accommodations card for all of your travelling guests. You can also swap in an RSVP postcard to save paper and postage ~ going green is always in style!

Once you decide how many pieces you will have in your invitation "suite," you will then need to decide how many "sets" you need to order. When you create your invitation list, be sure that you count how many sets you will need to mail, not how many people that is ~ remember, a couple only receives one invitation. And always add more than you think you need for those last minute additions!

This centerpiece was from my sister's wedding (isn't it beautiful!?). You may not want to do use this exact centerpiece, but like elements of it...the vase, the look of the hydrangea with the branches (the branches had crystal on them) or the delicate pearls holding the table number inside. Pull what you like and make it your own!
